Since last one week google is showing a separate description for one post. It is not the meta description. 

One week back I have started using Gutenberg and added excerpt to the post. 

Viewer dropped.

I have reinstalled classic editor. Deleted excerpt.

What else should I do ?

In Rank Math Setting - Title & Meta - Posts- Single post description - it is mentioned as  %excerpt%

Should I keep it blank? 

 

Also, please inform the best practice with excerpt, regarding SEO.

Please stay advised that Google does not usually pick descriptions which are set in the SEO settings but they prefer showing what they feel is correct (from the post's content) for the specific query.
