[WP Review Pro] WP Review Pro Questions

Hello My Theme Shop Community,

I have been researching review plug-ins for WordPress for the last few days trying to decide which one would be the best for my new WordPress website. I have used the Reviewer plug-in in the past and while it is clean, kept up-to-date and people’s questions seem to be answered in a very quick and timely fashion no new features have really been added to it in quite a while so for my new site I have been shopping around for a high quality review plug-in that’ll fill my needs and WP Review Pro is one of the few options that caught my eye.

There are a few hiccups with the WP Review plug-in that I have run into however and I was hoping that the community might have some workarounds or suggestions.

Question #1: The most important question that I have is if there is a way to prevent the WP Review plug-in from being available on every single page, post or custom content type on my site? I’m building a site where community members can submit content but I do NOT want one of my members to submit a review on a content type that is not meant for reviews. I need to keep my reviews together in the reviews content type. If a member goes to a content type that is not meant for reviews and posts a review it’s going to mess things up on the site. So, I need to associate the WP Review options to the review content type and no other content type. Is this possible?

Question #2: One of the features that stood out to me about this plug-in was the overall score options. I would like to have my community members leave their reviews in the comments section (requiring them to be logged into the site) and then have an overall score for all of these comments/reviews. I would like to also rename/relabel this overall score from “Comments Rating” to “Community Review Score”. Is this possible? If so, how would it be done?

Question #3: I saw that you have a “User Review” option through the plug-in on your demo page which I thought was really nifty. Is there a way to show this score separately? It would be really cool to have a site visitor score (from people visiting and not logged into the site), a reviewer score (from the person who wrote the main/original review), and then a community score which is calculated through the comments left at the bottom of the page from members logged into the site. Is this possible through this plug-in? If so, it would be amazing and I would LOVE to know how to accomplish it!

As of now those are my three main questions regarding this plug-in. If we could figure out a way to make these things happen, I see myself visiting your WP Review Pro page very quickly to make a purchase.

1. Yes that is possible, you need to install the Members plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/members/), once you activate this plugin, please head over to WP Dashboard >> Users >> Roles and edit the role in which you want to give/deny the access to WP Review related options. 2. Yes, we have an option to restrict the rating for logged in users only https://mythemeshop.d.pr/aFMdXs, to change the text you can use our plugin My WP Translate(https://wordpress.org/plugins/my-wp-translate/), and you can translate or rephrase any string from any active plugin or theme.

3. Unfortunately, our plugin can show only show separate ratings for post author and post readers.

My WP Translate looks like a pretty cool plugin and would certainly be up to the task of changing “Comments Rating” to “Community Review Score”. Thank you for suggesting it.

Bummer that Question 3 isn’t possible. Maybe you can add it as a future feature. WP Review would be the only plugin that had it and would certainly set it apart from its competitors.

I considered using a plugin like Members for Question 1 but I still want my logged in community members to be able to leave reviews. I just don’t want them to be able to leave a review anywhere they want. If I took away access to WP Review completely then they would not be able to leave a review at all. Not even under the Review (Custom Content Type) section of the website specifically created for members to leave reviews. I need the option to be available but only under a specific content type… any other suggestions in that regard?

Hello Brian,

I have added the suggestion regarding the 3rd question in our internal ideas list, but as this is a little complex feature, I can't give a definite timeline for that.

Could you please explain the 2nd scenario in details? Members plugin is to control what to show to your website writers in the WordPress Dashboard, it will not affect the frontend area from where users can submit a review.
