dotjima
I currently use a very old and outdated schema theme. Think the subscription ran out in November 2018 My question is two fold. 1) I'm a tad (well very) nervous that as I've missed so many updates , if i were to update now it will remove some of the work i've had done on my site speed (lots of manual edits on the backend by a speedup pro) and also I'm worried it will have a negative effect on my serps on google for some random reason. Is there any quick way to roll back to my previous version if I don't like the results that upgrading brings? 2) The reason I'm now looking to update. I've had a schema markup pro manually code individual schema for each page on my site. We added a wordpress plugin to the site that will allow us to edit the <head> section of each page independently so that we can add each custom to each page manually. However, it appears as though the schema markup on the theme is hardcoded in some way that supersedes any of the custom work we add. I've tried to remove all previous schema markup JSON and microdata from the site using another plugin that removes old schema data, but it broke the site completely and I had to delete everything the plugin did in order to retrieve my site. Is there any way to remove this so I can add my own custom schema markup? Support Jitendraa Posted August 29, 2019 Support Report Share Posted August 29, 2019 Hello, Thank you for contacting MyThemeShop. 1. You can take a complete backup of your site first and update your theme. If something goes wrong, you can easily restore the older version. Or as an alternative, you can create a testing subdomain, migrate the content/settings of the main site to the testing site and update the domain there in the testing site. Once you setup everything, you can move the site to live one. 2. The best way to do that is adding your code manually to the pages/files you want instead of using a plugin. If that requires editing a file, you need to use Child Theme for that purpose. Support Roy A Posted September 2, 2019 Support Report Share Posted September 2, 2019 Hello, Thank you for cooperation and patience with us. Can you please let us know for which post types you want the schema data because schema theme creates the schema data differently for each post type? Looking forward to helping you.
